Mondays get a bit of a bad rap. Sure they’re the first day when we are obligated to wear pants and brush our hair… but there’s something unspoken about the wrath of Mondays for everyone, and I think we go easy on one another (as we should, really).
Tuesdays are a different beast. Tuesdays can be sneaky in their workload and mania. It’s like everyone who eased into Monday is roaring to go (and ready to write ALL the emails) come Tuesday morning.
Tuesday is a great day to take it slow and even play hooky if you can. There’s no better city in the world to play hooky than New Orleans. Here, we are more than ready to start a Tuesday with fluffy beignets and end with brass bands and cocktails. Everywhere else it’s just Tuesday, in New Orleans there’s always a reason to celebrate!
If you’re coming to visit… it is festival season afterall…enjoy a Tuesday with us!
Here’s my Happy Tuesday from New Orleans, with love.
Tuesday morning Yoga at the Cabildo in the heart of the French Quarter is great! It’s yoga in a sunny museum first thing in the morning. It’s also steps from Cafe du Monde and its famous beignets which, if you ask me, is no accident.
The French Quarter is full of secret courtyards and gardens. It’s magic and it’s everywhere here like no big deal. (Big deal.)
Post-yoga treats! When you can’t decide between green juice and sweet Vietnamese Coffee, do both! District Hand Pies and Coffee Bar. They have green juice on tap! WHAT? Too good.
The neighborhoods in New Orleans are gorgeous, even when the vines take over.
Cowbell is Uptown, nestled up against the Mississippi River. The. Food. Is. SO. GOOD! Easily one of favorite lunches in New Orleans. This is a Crab Cake BLT with fries and sangria. Livin’ like it’s a Sunday on a Tuesday.
Spend the afternoon moseying across town from Uptown over to the Bywater.
St. Roch Market is my local spot and it’s just so bright and lovely. On Tuesday, grab a cocktail at The Mayhaw (get the ‘I Cantaloupe Even’) and head out to listen to music on the patio!
Oysters from Elysian Seafood’s Oyster Bar. So pretty +horseradish.
A happy Tuesday in New Orleans also includes a FREE comedy show at The Howlin Wolf. Grab a beer and a sandwich at the bar and head in for funny, sometimes very awkward stand-up comedy.
And to cap off the very best Tuesday with a visit to Frenchmen Street to see The Treme Brass Band at DBA. Frenchman Street can be packed with people milling in and out of live music bars on the weekend. On a Tuesday… same bustling music scene but far fewer people. And if you know about the side door at dba, maybe you can sneak it open and just say hey to the band on stage.
It’s a Tuesday filled with soul, adventuring, very good eats, and very fine brass. Come spend a Tuesday with us! We do it up right.
I partnered with New Orleans Tourism to bring you this #HappyTuesday post. Thoughts, opinions, and deep love for New Orleans are my own.

I HAVE TO GO HERE!!!!!! Or to all these places I mean. I’m coming to New Orleans for the FIRST TIME EVER in mid-May and I want to do my trip right! I have some lettering work I’m doing with Neiman Marcus Last Call on Saturday (aka I’m writing on people’s leather goods for 5 hours) but beyond that, I want to eat through the town, see NOLA’s gorgeousness and beg you to be my friend. Oh and crash the Bakehouse NOLA (so sad the Drake on Cake class is already full the weekend I’m in town) and dream about hosting a lettering workshop there. I’ll stop talking now……..

I am surprising my husband with a 12-hour trip to NOLA next Tuesday! We arrive at 9:10A and leave at 9:00P. This post is timely and beautiful and makes me more excited than I already was if that’s possible.
Could we meet you at The Mayhaw at 3:00P? I would love to buy you a drink and talk about cream cheese and queso (it’s a Texas thing) and browned butter. Say yes!

Just got back last night from enjoying five delicious days in New Orleans! This was my third time there but it was probably my most favorite visit. Thank you for your guide! From your list of recommendations, during our trip we had brunch at Cafe Amelie, lunch at St. James Cheese Company and dinner at Commander’s Palace, Sylvain and Peche. I loved them all!!!
